Same work item with different users

Hi,

I'm facing a scenario in the production environment. The issue is when deadline was reached, work item was sent to manager(one level up) for approval.

Now the manager has requested to remove the work item from inbox or to route it to previous manager.

I cannot logically delete it because the same work item is with previous and new manager.

Is there any other way to remove the work item from inbox.

SWWL and SWI1_RULE cannot be used in this case. The positions are also different for both managers.
