Unable to findout how the the workitem is executed?

Hello Experts,

I am triggering a workflow from a standard transaction code, it is getting executed properly but it is stacking in a task ( as I have seen in workflow log) for some time as it is a background task.

I need to find out from where / how this workitem ( for the task where workflow stacked  ) is  getting executed after some time.
