WF Background Task Not Updating DB table sometimes

Hi Experts,

We have a background task as a final step in our workflow which is responsible to update the DB table status field.

This task is working fine in most of the cases, also tested it independently by running this task in test mode.

Note that we are also using FM BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT.

The issue is sometimes (1. rare cases 2. on some specific days)  this background task doesn't update the DB table status field.

Did anyone face such scenario before ? 

Any/all possible causes of this rare scenario ?

Can we avoid this altogether ?
