We have a requirements in which the users want SAP to alert the user when a particular set of conditions in the sales order is missing and it is past a particular date. In this case they want SAP to alert them (once a day) if a particular sales order does not have a letter of credit attached (as a standard attachment) and the proposed GI date on the schedule line is less than 5 days than the current day.
While it is clear on how to create an alert category and send the email, how would we trigger the alert in the first place? When I look at the examples of triggering an alert via a workflow, Post Processing Framework (PPF) or business object repository, they all relied on the document being processed in order to trigger the alert.
In my case, the document may not have been touched at all and I want to trigger the alert? Any advice? So far, the only idea is to create a custom program that will be scan all open sales orders, check the conditions and if true, generate the alert via the FM SALRT_CREATE_API
Any ideas?
