Get exception text for email

Hello,

I have created a step in a workflow that calls a method on an ABAP object. That method might throw one of 3 class-based exception. Each exception is linked to an outcome in the workflow.

In one of these outcomes I would like to retrieve the exception text and send it in an email. The exception is not a subclass of one of the workflow exception classes (CX_BO...)  but I could change this.

I haven't been able to find an example of this being done. Is it possible?
